Member Profile

Profiled as a member of the “40 Under 40” class of 2006, honored by the CPA Technology Advisor, Louis Stratton was recognized as one of the outstanding members of the accounting profession.  Louis’ interest in software began with an Accounting Information Systems course taken in a 1992-93 undergrad course from Ms. Hoagland, who required each student to perform a system analysis of the internal control structure for a company keeping manual books, and to automate the manual books by implementing a DOS version of Great Plains.

After graduation, while working in private industry as an internal accountant, he worked extensively with outside consultants on the DOS version of ACCPAC Plus. The team he was part of evaluated every process in the organization and how the software processed information. Upon completion of this project, his employer formed a team to pursue ISO 9000 certification. Louis’ role on the ISO team was to assist in the documentation of each of the processes and how they flowed through the organization. Later, his role on this special team changed to internal auditor. These projects began his interest in business processes and information technology.

He accepted a position with Kenneth Dufon & Co (now Meador Stratton LLP) when a sister company of his previous employer requested assistance with software selection and implementation. Kenneth Dufon & Co. sent him to learn, along with their lead technology consultant, how to implement TRAVERSE version 2.0, which also marked his first experience with TRAVERSE and even Windows-based accounting software. Today, his firm has a close relationship with Open Systems, the publisher of TRAVERSE. They have found that this product and the close relationship Open Systems keeps with its partners leads to our continuous success in the mid-market software world.
