Member Profile

Bob is responsible for marketing Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 and developing the relationship between Microsoft and the practicing accountants’ community.  This is achieved through the generous offerings provided to their members including, free products, technical support and training, among other resources to benefit both their practice and clients.  Another important aspect to his role is helping their product teams understand the specific needs of the CPA users which can be quite different from the needs of their other clients.

He’s worked in and around the business of accounting for more than 12 years prior to his initial talks with Microsoft.  Microsoft needed someone to help them launch and market Microsoft Office Accounting in the CPA community to challenge the incumbent.  Bob’s winning combination of accounting, technology and marketing/sales experience with Coopers & Lybrand, ADP and Intuit are great bases of experience from which he can draw from.  These experiences provided an almost 360-degree of understanding of the business of being an accounting professional.

Being a CITP Credential holder for 1 year has benefited Bob in staying abreast of the latest trends in technology and specifically how they are impacting or providing opportunity in the business of delivering accounting services.  Through his participation with the CITP Credential community, Bob is a frequent presenter to audiences of CPAs and other accounting and technology professionals.  He credits holding the CITP Credential with helping him build credibility with his audiences and other thought leaders in the profession.

One piece of advice Bob would like to provide to the community is that if you haven’t already, make the investment towards joining the CITP Credential community.  Bob states, “Successful and prudent technology investment adoption are often the differentiators between efficient, successful businesses and those that struggle to make it… the same applies for professionals.  The knowledge economy is competitive and transparent.  We all need an edge… CITP is one of mine.”
