Member Profile

Geni Whitehouse has always focused her career path on accounting. Her strong work ethic allowed her to quickly move from a staff tax accountant at Deloitte to a corporate tax manager and partner in an Atlanta CPA firm. Once Geni reached this professional high, she decided to focus on her passion of helping companies harness technology to achieve their business goals. Eventually, her ability to bridge accounting and technology led her to a role at Navision Software, where she built the company’s CPA Alliances Program. During her time at Navision, she was also instrumental in driving development of the first-XBRL enabled ERP package in the world.

Throughout her career, Geni has always played roles considered to be “outside” traditional accounting boundaries, so when the opportunity to become a CITP become available, she went with her gut feeling and jumped at the chance.

Geni’s attraction to solutions that solve a unique need led her to later joining the accounting software vendor ACCPAC, who offered an interactive product enabling accountants to communicate financial information to their clients. When ACCPAC was acquired by Sage, Geni became vice president of Product Management for the company’s Sage ACCPAC product line.

Most recently, Geni left Sage to focus on her own communication consulting business, Even a Nerd Can Be Heard. Her mission is to help professionals make even the most boring subjects interesting in order to enhance communication with clients, prospects and co-workers. It is her belief that communication skills are the secret to providing more valued services to clients and to improving the relevance of the accounting profession to business people everywhere.
