CITP Challenge - Prospective Applicants

The objective of the CITP Challenge is to expand a communication pathway between the AICPA’s CITP Committee and Information Technology Committees at the state level, inform the professional community about the vital role of IT in the financial management process, and the need to recognize CPAs who possess unique IT expertise and experience.

Members of State Societies who participate in the CITP Challenge receive special discounts, invitations and AICPA Top Technology Initiative content.  Click here for a listing.

The AICPA’s CPA.CITP credential is designed to enable you to emphasize your specialty focus in IT. As a Certified Public Accountant, you have witnessed first hand how the CPA credential distinguishes you from other accounting professionals.

The CITP credential offers similar advantages. Possessing a specialty credential helps you differentiate yourself from other CPAs and IT professionals, by conveying both your accounting acumen and your IT expertise to both potential clients and prospective employers. The CITP credential is an AICPA acknowledgment of your experience and training in the information technology field.

CITP’s also receive complimentary membership in the AICPA’s IT membership section. Click here to review the extensive list of program benefits available to all Certified Information Technology Professionals.

Who qualifies for the CITP?

If 15% or more of your total work hours over the past five years were in the technology-related areas that comprise the CITP Body of Knowledge and you have continued your education in these areas via training, conferences or self-directed learning, you will most likely qualify for the CITP credential. Many of our applicants have technology certifications and advanced degrees that qualify for points on the application as well. See the Apply page of the IT Center web site at www.aicpa.org/citp the CITP handbook attached below for more details about the Body of Knowledge and point system.
