Top Technology Initiatives
Technology is an integral part of our business and personal lives, affecting virtually everything we do and experience in some form or fashion. CPAs are trusted business advisers, technologically competent and intricately involved in the flow of information within business. In support of these efforts, the AICPA established the Top 10 Technologies list in the late 1980s, bringing together many of the most technologically astute members of the CPA profession to build member awareness about important and emerging technologies that will contribute to the profession.
What originally started as a small group project in a lab setting has grown into an initiative voted on by AICPA CITP Credential Holders and Information Technology Section Members; and members of ISACA, the Information Technology Alliance (ITA), and The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). Each year, the section's Top Techs Task Force surveys individuals working in industry, public accounting, academia, and government. The leading technologies are then compiled, ranked, and published for the AICPA community and the public at large.
